Corners

We mainly use Solid External Corners made from Acrylonitrile-Butadiene-Stryene* (Description of ABS is below.)

These solid corners are guaranteed to never break, rot, or become brittle. Although a corner is one of the least expensive components to a solar screen, it is one of the most important to keep your solar screen structurally sound through the years.

Since the cut required for these corner pieces is a straight cut, it ensures a tight fit in each corner of the solar screens, allowing “Zero give,” guaranteeing that your solar screens will remain wrinkle free for as long as you live in your home. An interior metal corner requires an angle cut and will always allow “play” at the corner making it vulnerable to causing wrinkles. Although the interior metal corners are cheaper it is never a good idea to use them with a heavy polyester solar screen.

*Acrylonitrile-Butadiene-Styrene, or ABS as it’s known in the industry, is a engineering plastic that is easy to machine and fabricate. ABS is characterized by resistance to chemicals, heat and impact. Typical applications for ABS include appliance housings, luggage, camera bodies, power tool housings, battery cases, tool boxes, packing crates, radio cases and various furniture components. ABS is an ideal material for structural applications when impact resistance, strength, and stiffness are required. It is widely used for machining pre-production prototypes since it has excellent dimensional stability and is easy to paint and glue. Natural (beige) ABS and black ABS are FDA compliant for use in food processing applications.

The following physical property information is based on typical values of the base acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene resin.
